Knowlton Church and Earthworks. A Norman church which was remodelled in the 14th century. It stands inside a late Neolithic Henge which was constructed around 2500BC. The ring has two entrances and an internal ditch and was possibly used for ceremonial use.

The snow has cleared in the South of the UK, plus we had a little sun, so I managed to escape for a few hours to see this rather interesting site, it looks like its one of several rings. It was lovely to see the sun and get out, and a very peaceful and nice place to be in for a few calming hours.

The tide came in fast, covering the rocks very quickly and also cutting off our retreat to Lulworth. So with slightly damp feet and torches we retreated to the pub by scrambling around the cove. A little hit and miss, but we made it back without much trouble.
